Filter Valves
Pool Filter Valves
Pool filter valves are the heart of your swimming pool filter. These valves control every aspect of your filter from backwashing, to rinsing, to filtering, to circulating your pool water. Most filter valves come in either a 6 or 7 position multi-port valve or a basic slide/pull valve with 2 positions. It is importnant to note that certain filter valves fit only certain pool filters so when replacing a pool filter valve you need to know your filter manufacture, usually Pentair, Hayward, Sta-Rite, or Jandy. Your filter model # and if possibly your filter valve part number. These are usually printed on a sticker over the 'waste' port or stamped into the plastic somewher on the filter valve itself.

Hayward Filter Valves
Hayward pool fitler valves come in 3 basic sytles/models. There is the basic push/slide valve that has 2 positions for filtering and backwashing your pool water. Next, there is what they call a multi-port valve that is either placed on top of your pool filter (top mount valve) or is plumbed in to the side of your filter (side mount valve). These valves are usually called multi-port valves or vari-flow valves and are specific to each filter model. Multi-port valves typically come with 6 or 7 filter valve positions that can either backwash your filter, rinse your filter, remove waste, recirculate the water, filter the water, or close all together.

Pentair Filter Valves
Pentair pool filter valves, also known as Purex Triton, or American filter valves are either installed on the top of the filter (top mount valves) or installed/plumbed into the side of the filter (side mount valves). Most of the Pentair filter valves are known as multi-port valves or slide valves. Multi-port valves usually come with a 6 or 7 valve position handle allowing for backwash, waste, rinsing, and various other options. Multi-port valves can be installed on the side of the filter or the top. Slide valves on the other hand are only installed on the side of the filter and allow for only 2 valve positions; filter and backwash.

Sta-Rite Filter Valves
Sta-Rite pool filter valves work with both DE (diatomaceous earth) filters and sand filters. Most Sta-rite filter valves are multi-port valves meaning they offer 6 to 7 valve positions for your filter ranging from filter, rinse, backwash, waste, circulate, and close. Sta-Rite multi-port filter valves can be installed on either the top of the filter or the side and each filter model has a specific fitler valve that can be used with it, so be sure to match up your Sta-Rite filter model with the correct filter valve.

Jandy Filter Valves
Jandy pool filter valves work much like all the other valves either lining up with Jandy sand filters or Jandy DE filters. All Jandy filter valves are specific to each ftiler system so be sure to match up the correct vavle with the correct filter. Jandy filter valves also come in a multi-port version with 6 filtering positions or a slide/push valve with 2 filtering positions. This difference between the two valves is 80% personal prefference.
